Introduction
Blinds collect dust, grease, and dirt over time, especially if they face the outside. Many people think the only solution is to take them down, but today we’ll explain how to make them look like new without removing them.
Why clean your blinds regularly?
Prevents dust and allergen build-up
Prolongs their lifespan
Improves your home or office aesthetics
Prevents jams in the mechanism due to dirt
Materials you need
✔️ Bucket with warm water✔️ Neutral or mild all-purpose soap✔️ Microfiber cloth✔️ Sponge or soft brush✔️ Multi-purpose cleaning spray (optional)✔️ Gloves
Step by step to clean very dirty blinds without taking them down
1. Fully lower the blinds
This way you can access the entire exterior surface. If the blinds are outside and you can reach them from the terrace or street, even better.
2. Remove surface dust
Use a dry cloth or duster to eliminate accumulated dust for more effective cleaning.
3. Prepare the cleaning mix
In a bucket of warm water, add a few drops of neutral soap. If the dirt is greasy (such as kitchen blinds), use a mild degreaser.
4. Clean slat by slat
With the dampened sponge or cloth, clean each slat from top to bottom. Pay special attention to the edges and corners where dirt accumulates most.
5. Dry well
Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to wipe each slat to prevent water marks and further dirt adhesion.
6. Inside the blind box
If you can open the top box, remove the dust accumulated with a vacuum cleaner or damp cloth.
